Home, Heart, and New Beginnings: Michelle & Jake’s Maternity Session

Last month, I had the joy of capturing some truly meaningful moments with Michelle and Jake. We had hoped for sunshine, but—true to form—our local weather had other plans. Still, there’s something extra special about the quiet intimacy of photographing in the comfort of home. Their cozy new space gave us the perfect backdrop to preserve this season of waiting and wonder.

I always feel honored to photograph life’s big milestones, but when it’s people I love—people I’ve watched grow, build a life together, and now step into parenthood—it’s something deeper. It’s not just about the pictures; it’s about the story behind them, and being part of that story in some small way.

Stylistically, this session felt a little different for me. I leaned into a more filmy, nostalgic edit—something that just felt right for the emotion and warmth of the day. Soft dark light, gentle tones, and a little texture gave the images a timeless feel I hope they’ll cherish for years to come.

Since our session, Michelle and Jake have officially welcomed their little one into the world. I couldn’t be happier for them as they begin this next chapter with their beautiful daughter Mia. I hope to capture more memories for them in the future.
