Think wind in your hair, kids running along the shoreline, and a session that feels more like a summer night than a photoshoot.

Next, consider your family:
Do your kids love to run and explore? A wide open beach or field is perfect. Prefer something a little more calm and contained? A quieter, tucked-away spot might be the better fit. A senior wanting something more formal, maybe the city.
Lighting also plays a huge role. I photograph all sessions during golden hour, and some locations simply glow more beautifully than others at that time—this is where my experience comes in. If you’re unsure, don’t worry—I’m here to help you choose a location that fits your family, your style, and your vision perfectly.
How to Choose Your Location

When it comes to beach sessions, one of the first questions I get is where should we go? The answer is simple—anywhere. I’m always happy to come to you and make your experience effortless.
That said, after 10+ years of photographing along the coast, I’ve learned that not all beaches photograph the same. Some areas (like much of Ocean City) can include buildings in the background, which can limit that clean, timeless coastal look—though they do offer earlier shade, which can be helpful for little ones and bedtime routines.
If you’re dreaming of a more elevated, natural aesthetic, I have a few favorite go-to spots. Fenwick Island State Park is always at the top of my list—beautiful dune access, no buildings, soft evening light, and just enough adventure to make it fun. I also love 3R’s Beach and The Big Chill Beach Club in Bethany for their easy access, open views, and relaxed feel.
For something a little different, Ocean City Inlet offers a mix of textures with the pier and rocks (and even a little boardwalk magic if you want to lean into the fun—think rides, lights, and cotton candy). And if you want untouched, coastal beauty, Assateague Island is always a favorite—wide open beaches, soft sand, and the dreamiest, quiet backdrop. Selbyville is also a good option for something a little different. Behind 38 degrees restaurant is perfect.

I’ve photographed in New York more times than I can count—there’s just something about that city…the energy, the chaos, the hidden corners, the photo spots—I never get tired of it.
From the mountains of Colorado, the glow of Vegas, and the coastlines of California and Florida, to destination memories in Bahamas, Punta Cana and even the charm of Alabama—I’m always up for packing my bags and chasing something beautiful with you.

As you’re choosing your location, think beyond what looks pretty and focus on the feeling you want your images to have. What story are you telling, and how do you want them to live in your home — as a bold statement piece, a soft gallery wall, or something more intimate?
Your location and wardrobe should work together. A field or beach calls for movement, softness, and comfort — not heels or overly formal pieces that don’t fit the setting. If you love a more elevated, chic look with heels, we can absolutely create that — we just need to choose locations that support it, like urban or architectural spaces.
This is also where you can decide what feels right for you — whether that’s something very you and comfortable in your everyday style, or something a little outside your comfort zone and adventurous, like a destination session or a location that feels new and exciting. Both can be equally beautiful and meaningful depending on the story you want to tell.
Most importantly, choose a place where you can be present and at ease. That’s where the most meaningful images always happen.
