How is everyone feeling? Merry and Jolly? Completely overwhelmed? A little of both? I am falling in the both category. While most of my posts are pretty long I am going to keep this one simple. A few of the things our Elf has done over the years and a fun download for you to make one of your mornings a little easier and interactive for the kiddos.
One of my kiddos favorites is when their elf leaves them things to do. Roll-A-Snowman is one of them. Click here to get a copy. Just grab the elf, a pair of dice and print this out. There you go. One day down and the little ones will love it.
Here are a few more ideas for you:
Snowball Fight – use marshmallows, dolls and action figures. I hot glue some mini marshmallows together.
Mission impossible – Tie a string from one side of the foyer to the other and have the elf holding on to it.
Movie night – Make a bowl of popcorn, throw some of it around and put the elf in the bucket of it with elf on the shelf movie on tv.
Can’t Get In – Tape the Elf to outside of the window with fake or spray snow or without either works and just tell your child that the elf couldn’t get in or is watching while enjoying the cold.
Candy Cane Sled – make a candy cane sled for your elf to ride on
North Pole Putt Putt – Cut out a green and use the candy cane as a golf club and a marshmallow as the golf ball.
Letter From Elf – Leave a letter from the elf of all the things your elf has loved seeing them do. Focus on kind things for others.
Balloon Bath – Use white balloons and create a bath. I used our American Girl Doll bath.
Bubble Gum – Bought a bag of bubble gum and dumped it on the counter. Unwrap a few of the pieces and use a pink balloon, blow it up just a little and glue to elfs mouth.
Snow Angel – Use flour to make a snow angel
Tic-Tac-Bow Elf – Use festive tape or any tape and tape it to a wall or floor in a tic-tac-toe pattern and use Christmas bows. You can leave most of the spaces empty and let your little one play.
Trees for sale – Use Little Debbie Tree Cakes and set them up and print or write out a sign saying Trees for sale.
Snow Fort – Buy sugar cubes and have elf build a snow fort
Train – riding on a train
Ornament – Put inside a clear round ornament
Hair Salon – Glue Kid scissors to elfs hands and then set out some dolls and cute some hair off of old ones. Make crazy hair styles for the dolls.
Thank you – Leave a paper out with a note from the elf to write a thank you to someone that did something that meant a lot to them. Or record a video.
Gardening Elf – Plant a few candy dum dums in small pots and cut out paper leaves.
So many things you can do but these are some of their favorite. Each year I add more, put a spin on these or just run down in the morning and toss it in our tree or somewhere crazy because hey it is unrealistic at least for me to have the perfect elf on the shelf set up everyday.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays!
