Favorite Beauty Products

Uncategorized

Hi there!

This post has absolutely nothing to do with photography. However, what I have learned recently is that so many of you are much more interested in other content other then just photography.  This weeks post is about my favorite beauty products, which according to my Instagram poll is what so many of you have an interest in.  A list of all my products, colors and links are at the bottom if you want to skip right to it.

Almost all of my make up and skin care products are non toxic and it has taken me awhile to find some favorites. Did you know that the FDA doesn’t approve the ingredients in our cosmetics? The average woman is exposed to 500 harsh chemicals a day. Our skin is our biggest organ and absorbs 60-70% of what we apply topically to it.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you may have noticed that I have been posting every now and then about Young Living products.  Healthy living isn’t something that I just recently decided we were going to do. It has actually been a focus for us since I was pregnant with my son in 2009 and even became more of a focus for us when he was diagnosed with Autism in 2012.  We switched all of our home products to all natural, non toxic products.   I have tried so many different products and these by far have been my favorite.

I will start with makeup because let’s face it, makeup is fun then next week I will post my other products. I am not sure why I love make up so much because I don’t wear a lot of it and on average I probably only wear it once a week. I love it though.

My make up routine is pretty simple.  I currently use bare minerals Bareskin concealer for under my eyes to help with my dark circles. Then I apply my eyeshadow.  I currently love three different brands. All are non toxic.  The Honest Beauty eye shadow is great. I comes in a set of three so you have all three shades in a compact ready to apply.  The second is Jillian Dempsey’s lid tint.  You know Patrick Dempsey’s (Mcdreamy) wife.  Jillian is a makeup artist to the starts and has created a few easy non toxic makeup essentials. I love her lid tints. It is a eyeshadow cream that you can apply with your finger or a nylon brush.  I think this is perfect for summer mornings when your heading to the beach or just on the go and need some quick color.  You can make it as light or dark as you want as well.

Young Living has recently launched Savvy Minerals, which is their non toxic makeup line and I am in love.  The line is all mineral powders that are long lasting and made with naturally derived ingredients with no fillers or additives. Their eyeshadows come individually so you can buy exactly which colors you want.  You can buy these in kits so the colors are matched up for you or individually.

Then I use eyeliner.  I have three that I use. Young Livings and Honest Beauty in black which are both non toxic.  I do still have my Lancome eye liner. It is not chemical free, but you can buy it pretty much everywhere and it goes on smoothly.

Then I curl my lashes with the Shiseido eye lash curler. By far my favorite that I have ever used. I will never use another. Then I apply Juice Beauty mascara in black.

Other items I use are blush, bronzer and Savvy Minerals Veil.  For blush I switch off between Honest Beauty’s cream blush and Savvy’s blush in shade “I Do Believe Your Blushin’.” For bronzer I am using the Honest Beauty Bronzer and finish my look with the Savvy Minerals Veil, which gives you a smooth flawless look.  It adds luminosity and highlights to the skin.

Oh and I almost forgot, no look is complete without a little something on your lips.  If you are looking for a great lip balm my go to is the Cinnamint Lip Balm from Young Living.  Honest beauty has wonderful lip glosses that that are some and are not sticky at all.  I have them in almost every color.  Savvy Minerals also has a lip gloss that has a little shimmer and peppermint taste. I currently have this in Embrace.

Honest Beauty Magic Balm – this is my go to for a lot of things.  It is a clear gloss and goes on smooth.  I use it on my lips.  You can also apply this to your lids or cheeks to give a natural dewy glow. Perfect during the summer months.

To remove my makeup I use Young Livings’s Seedlings Baby Wipes.  They are lavender scented, non toxic and wipe your makeup right off.

I think that is about it as far as my makeup routine. Next week I will post about my skin care.

I hope you found this helpful and as always if you have any questions just let me know.  If you try these products I hope you love them!  I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.
