There are sessions that feel like work… and then there are sessions like this one—where the moment you walk in, you know it’s going to be something special.
My branding shoot with True Floral was exactly that. When Kate contacted me about working together and she was thinking of doing a “working shoot.” I said “yes” immediately and so glad I did.
From the second I stepped into their Baltimore studio, I was completely wrapped in the most beautiful, soft natural light pouring through the windows. It’s the kind of light photographers dream about—the kind that gently fills a space and makes everything feel warm, alive, and a little bit magical. Paired with their thoughtfully curated studio, every corner felt intentional and inspiring.
The day was supposed to be rainy and overcast, but instead, it gave us the most beautiful, ever-changing light. One minute it was soft and quiet, the next the sun was flooding through the windows. As a photographer, I was constantly adjusting, moving with it, embracing every shift.
It doesn’t always create a perfectly consistent gallery—and sure, I could adjust everything in editing—but I’ve come to love leaving a bit of that natural variation. Because that’s how the day felt. Real, imperfect, and unexpectedly beautiful.
But what truly made this session unforgettable wasn’t just the setting—it was them.
This shoot wasn’t just about documenting a business. It was about telling the story of the people behind it. I had the chance to capture their creativity as they worked—hands moving instinctively, building arrangements that felt effortless yet so intentional. But in between those moments were the ones I love most: the laughter, the glances, the unspoken understanding between them.
You can’t fake that kind of connection.
There’s a genuine love there—not just for what they do, but for each other. And that’s what turns a brand into something real. Something people feel.
And then there was the energy… which honestly deserves its own moment.
I walked in and Kate greeted me with a big hug right away. Music was playing, mimosas were flowing, and everyone was gathered around—laughing, trying on outfits, and putting the final touches on their makeup. The energy in the room was so warm and genuine. Everyone was excited, welcoming, and fully in the moment—and that’s exactly what I love walking into at a session.
They also had the incredibly talented videographer, Anna, there. From the second she walked in and hugged me hello, I just knew we were about to have fun. That kind of warmth and connection sets the tone for everything, and you can feel it carry through every part of the day.
Before long, the space was filled with music, champagne was being poured, and what started as a branding session quickly turned into something that felt more like a celebration.
There was dancing and singing.
There was nonstop laughter.
There were those in-between moments that you can’t plan—but end up meaning the most.
And somehow, in the middle of all of that, we created magic.
What made this session even more meaningful to me is the connection behind it all.
Kate, the owner of True Floral, and I actually go way back—we went to high school together and were cheerleaders together. Some of my favorite memories live in that time of life, and she’s a big part of them.
To be able to reconnect years later and see the incredible business she’s built, the life she’s created, and the person she continues to be—it’s really special.
She is truly beautiful inside and out, and I feel so thankful to have known her then and even more grateful to know her now.
Being trusted by someone who holds that kind of history in your life—to show up, to capture her work, her team, her passion—it’s something I don’t take lightly. I am so honored she chose me to work with.
This is why I love branding photography.
Because it’s not just about headshots or pretty images for a website. It’s about capturing the heart of a business—the people, the passion, the story that lives underneath it all.
With True Floral, that story is one of creativity, connection, and joy. And being trusted to document that? That’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
Sessions like this are a reminder that when you create space for people to just be themselves, the most beautiful moments naturally follow.
If you’re a creative business owner dreaming of a branding session that feels less like a photoshoot and more like an experience—music, movement, connection and all—I’d love to create something like this with you.
Kate sent me an inspo board before the session and I loved it right away. It’s always so fun taking someone’s vision and turning it into something real. From start to finish, I’d love to hear what you think.
